A New Season Starts August 12, 2019

Preparation is the key to maintaining a top-notch volleyball program. Over the 15 years, Ironwood Ridge has built a strong tradition of developing excellent volleyball players and teams. This all starts with having a comprehensive and productive Off-Season Program that is open to all prospective student-athletes currently enrolled at Ironwood Ridge High School for the 2019-20 school year..

"It's not the will to win that matters. Everyone has that.
It's the will to prepare to win that matters."
-Paul "Bear" Bryant

Off-Season Expectations

Expectations are high here and you must make a choice to share these expectations or make the commitment to meet them.

The emphasis for our off-season training this season is to focus on allowing all players to be mentally refreshed as well as getting everyone in shape to compete at a high level while avoiding injury, to improve team chemistry with the new class added to the varsity level, and to give our senior class a chance to lead the way in the weight room.

We offer Nighthawk Volleyball Training Camps, Team Camps, and optional Strength/Conditioning program for prospective players (incoming freshman and sophomores) that are listed below. For returning volleyball players, the off-season will include Strength/Condittioning, Team Camps only, and fundrasing activities. Players should plan summer school and family vacations around the UA and NAU Team Camps in July.

Athletic Clearance

All student-athletes must have a current clearance packet (including a current physical and health history form) on file with the Athletic Department BEFORE they are allowed to participate in any off-season activities. Physicals for the 2019 season must be dated on or after March 1, 2019. Please contact the Athletic Department with any questions or concerns.

Athletes without proper clearance will not be allowed to participate - no exceptions..

Strength/Conditioning Sessions

Off-season strength and conditioning is for all prospective volleyball players to prepare them for the physical testing that will be performed during player evaluations as well as to enhance performance during the season and to reduce the chance of injury.

IRVB Assistant Coach Ashleigh Houlton, CSCS, along with Ironwood Ridge Strength/Conditioning coach Manny Padilla, CSCS will conduct all conditioning and speed/agility training sessions.

Ironwood Ridge Volleyball Camps

The Ironwood Ridge Volleyball Camps offer a Serve Reception Camp and Beach Skills Camps in June; and our High School Camps in July. These camps give prospective players the opportunity to train with the coaches at Ironwood Ridge and have been the cornerstone of the Volleyball program by offering invaluable instruction each summer to our players at an affordable low cost. Ironwood Ridge students must register early to take advantage of the package discount.

Please do not confuse the off-season training with tryouts. The IRVB Off-season Program is an opportunity for all prospective players to be a part of the program and to improve physically and technically during the summer.

Participation in the off-season activities (including playing club volleyball for any club) does not guarantee a uniform in the Fall; it only guarantees that if a player works hard, that they will improve.

If you have a concern about making the team, you should see Coach Lang.
